as soon as possible, but no earlier than 1 January 2026, for a project externally funded by the NRW-Rückkehrprogram. We are offering a fixed-term full-time position (100%) for 1 year (corresponding to the project’s duration).



Your tasks:

Collaboration on a third-party funded research project investigating 2D materials using optical near-field spectroscopy Design and setup of optical experiments, particularly optical near-field microscopy and photoluminescence Sample structuring using optical lithography and similar methods Participation in the scientific communication process through contributions to international conferences and publications in renowned specialist journals

Our expectations:

A university degree and a PhD in physics with a focus on solid-state physics/2D materials or optical near-field spectroscopy are required. In-depth knowledge of solid-state physics and 2D materials/materials is required. In-depth knowledge of optical measurement methods, particularly photoluminescence measurements and/or optical near-field measurements, is required. In-depth knowledge of how to implement optical measurement setups is required. Experience in data and image analysis with Python is required. Experience in the production and characterization of atomically thin semiconductors is desirable. Basic knowledge of cleanroom and nanofabrication techniques is required, in particular, basic knowledge of optical lithography and sample structuring is desirable. Good written and spoken German language skills are desired. Good written and spoken English language skills are desired. An independent working style, good communication skills, and teamwork skills are mandatory.
