Job Summary:
The Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist supports the execution of the Company’s environmental health and safety programs by conducting audits and inspections to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations, providing training on environmental health and safety policies and procedures, and managing incident reporting and recordkeeping. This position reports to the Manager of Environmental Health & Safety.
Job Responsibilities:
1. Support the development and implementation of corporate EHS initiatives including, but not limited to, ergonomics, workplace violence/harassment prevention, emergency preparedness, etc.;
2. Assist in developing and delivering training programs related to various environmental health and safety topics;
3. Conduct internal audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and non-compliant conditions within the facility;
4. Maintain accurate records for all incidents and injuries, as well as associated investigations and corrective actions;
5. Provide support to employees regarding EHS matters;
6. Ensure proper signage and other visual aids are maintained throughout the facility;
7. Participate in continuous improvement projects aimed at reducing injuries, incidents, and costs;
8. Manage the maintenance and calibration of fire extinguishers, eye washes, and other EHS equipment;
9. Support the design and implementation of engineering controls designed to reduce or eliminate workplace hazards;
10. Other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree preferred; Associates degree with relevant experience will be considered; High school diploma or equivalent required;
Must have excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to follow defined processes;
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and written;
Experience with Microsoft Office products (i.e., Excel, Word, Outlook);
Basic knowledge of industrial hygiene principles;
Familiarity with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and other federal, state, and local EHS requirements;
Ability to walk extensively throughout the day;
Willingness to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as required;
Ability to perform physical tasks requiring strength, endurance, and agility such as lifting up to 50 lbs., bending, climbing stairs, working at heights, and performing confined space entry;
Successful completion of pre-employment drug screen;
Must be willing to work in a warehouse environment subject to varying weather conditions.
