What to Expect

The Civil Engineering Designer is responsible for creating detailed design plans, drawings, and specifications for infrastructure projects such as roads, pathways, loading areas, parking, UG utilities, coordination other medias i.e. electrical, IT networks, pressurized systems, and other civil structures. This role involves collaborating with engineers, architects, and Design managers to ensure designs meet technical, safety, and regulatory standards while adhering to project timelines and budgets.

What You'll Do

Develop detailed design drawings and plans using CAD software (Civil 3D) for civil engineering projects. Conduct site assessments and surveys to gather data for design purposes. Ensure compliance with norms and regulations, as well as industry and Tesla internal standards. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate structural, environmental, and geotechnical considerations into designs. Review and revise designs based on feedback from project stakeholders or changes in project scope. Assist in the preparation of project proposals, bids, and presentations. Monitor project progress and provide technical support during construction phases as needed.
Work Environment:


Primarily office-based with occasional site visits. May require working on multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines.

What You'll Bring

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field from an accredited institution. Professional licensure (e.g., EIT or PE certification) is preferred but not always required for entry-level or mid-level roles. Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in civil engineering design (adjust based on seniority level of the position). Proven experience with infrastructure projects such as roadways, drainage systems, or site development. Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or similar tools. Knowledge of engineering standards and codes Experience with GIS software and hydraulic/hydrologic modeling tools is a plus. Good understanding of structural analysis and geotechnical principles. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills to address design challenges. Strong communication skills for collaborating with team members and presenting ideas to clients or stakeholders. Attention to detail to ensure accuracy in designs and compliance with specifications. Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
