System Engineer – Focus OT Architectur(x|f|m) - Hybrid


We are looking for a System Engineer – Focus OT Architecture (x|f|m) for the Manufacturing IT department at Sartorius Corporate Administration GmbH. In this role, you will actively shape the future of our production systems and IT landscape – from designing secure network architectures to integrating modern IoT technologies. You combine deep technical expertise with strategic architectural thinking and collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams. This position is available for full-time. It is a hybrid role requiring some days on site at our headquarters in Göttingen with the opportunity to work some days remotely.

Responsibilities

You will shape the future of our manufacturing IT by developing holistic OT architecture concepts that emphasize scalability, reliability, and alignment with strategic business goals In this role, you will design and implement enterprise-wide infrastructure and network solutions for complex production systems, machines, and buildings – always with a focus on performance, security, and availability You will create secure network architectures based on the IEC62443 zones and conduits model to ensure protected and efficient data flow between machines, equipment, and buildings You will integrate modern IoT devices into existing production environments and ensure their reliable connectivity and communication Maintaining and optimizing OT systems continuously will be part of your responsibilities – including troubleshooting, incident resolution, and planning of system upgrades You will implement security policies and ensure compliance with current standards and best practices to safeguard the infrastructure By collaborating closely with interdisciplinary teams, you will develop innovative solutions and actively contribute to the advancement of our production IT

us

You hold a degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a comparable qualification with relevant professional experience You bring solid experience in designing and implementing OT architectures – ideally in an industrial or manufacturing-related environment You are proficient in working with production-related systems such as PLC, SCADA, or MES, and have knowledge of communication protocols like OPC UA and MQTT You possess in-depth knowledge of network technologies such as VRRP, WLAN, NAC, PPTN, PUTN, 802.1X, HSRP, MPLS, BGP, and TCP/IP (IPv4/IPv6) You have proven experience in administering Microsoft and Linux server operating systems as well as virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V) You demonstrate strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams and stakeholders Excellent German and English language skills, both written and spoken, enable smooth collaboration in an international environment
