We are seeking for a

Senior Research Associate (f/m/d) in molecular plant breeding

full time and limited to 2 years. You will work in the breeding technology team for maize and oilseed crops at KWS SAAT SE & Co KGaA in Einbeck, Germany.

Your tasks:

Performance of sequence-alignments and -assemblies for detection of sequence variants for molecular marker development Service oriented application of molecular markers within hybrid breeding programs for corn and oilseed crops (worldwide) Coordination and performance of greenhouse programs for sampling of plant material for molecular genetics experiments Planning of laboratory orders, sampling, analysis and interpretation of genotyping data as well as reporting of results to customers Contribute to the expansion of standardization and automation of internal databases for genotyping processes and trait development

Contribute your skills:

University degree (Diploma, Bachelor, M.Sc.) in biology or agricultural sciences with a focus on breeding and molecular genetics or comparable. Experience in the analysis of next generation sequencing data and genotypic data Knowledge and practical experience in plant molecular biology and bioinformatics Practical experience in plant growth and -sampling in the greenhouse Experience working with large data sets and programming in R is a plus Passion for process excellence, service-oriented operations and good proactive planning and task-management Think across departments and appreciate diversity as a strength of a team Very good communication skills in English are required and other language skills (ideally German) are an advantage
