Scope full time and for a maximum of 30 months The Institute of Control Systems (ICS) is seeking to fill a full-time post-doctoral research position in the BMFTR funded-project "Dielectric nano-structures for electron beam diagnostics". The goal of this project is to use dielectric nanostructures as diagnostic devices in particle accelerators. This will revolutionize accelerator technology as it will enable us to tune chip-based accelerators for subrelativistic electron energies in an automated fashion for the first time. In order to achieve this, from the control theory point of view, we have to refine the control objectives and develop strategies for optimal feedback control exploiting the underlying physics in the dielectric laser accelerator interaction. This project is part of the research group of Prof. Annika Eichler in ICS and closely interlinked to the project partner Deutsches ELektronen-Synchrotron DESY, where the test facility ARES is located. Further partners are the Technical University of Darmstadt and the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU).
YOUR TASKS
Control system integration of the new dielectric strucures at the ARES test facility
Development of feedback control strategies based on a start-to-end simulation of the accelerator to be developped

At the heart of TU Hamburg’s research, teaching and transfer of technology is the guiding principle of developing technology for people. The TU Hamburg sees itself in this context as a family-friendly and sustainable university with high performance and quality standards that strives for excellence in all its research fields. Interdisciplinarity, innovation, regionality and internationality are binding principles in our actions. With currently around 8.000 students, 110 professors and 1.650 employees, the TU Hamburg is characterised by short decision-making processes and close cooperation between the board, the institutes, the deans of studies, the research areas and the administration. We identify ourselves with a modern leadership culture and cultivate appreciative interaction.
