Role Summary
Is the next step in your career at SMBC Group EMEA? We’re looking for an Assistant Vice President for our Compliance Department to join our team!
This role offers the opportunity to work at the heart of SMBC Bank EU AG’s regulatory compliance function, supporting group-wide initiatives across branches and subsidiaries. It plays a key part in ensuring regulatory alignment and protecting the bank’s reputation.
Business Area
The Compliance Department ensures SMBC Bank EU AG complies with EU and national regulations, supporting corporate and investment banking activities across branches and subsidiaries. It plays a central role in maintaining regulatory integrity and operational transparency. This role will strengthen the Regulatory Compliance Team’s capacity to manage group-wide compliance obligations, particularly in light of SMBC EU’s designation as an Intermediate EU Parent Undertaking (IPU).
Position Description
In this role you will:
Monitor and assess regulatory changes across EU jurisdictions and support implementation.
Advise internal stakeholders on compliance matters and policy development.
Coordinate regulatory investigations, audits, and reporting across local and group levels.
For you to succeed in the role, you’ll need to have:
A university degree in Law, Business, or Economics, or equivalent banking qualification.
Experience in financial services, compliance, or legal/regulatory environments.
Fluency in German and English, with strong analytical and communication skills.
