VORN – The Berlin Fashion Hub is a physical and digital space in BIKINI Berlin where innovations for a sustainable and future-oriented fashion industry are collectively conceived, communicated, and implemented. We see ourselves as a bridge between the creative industry, technology, sustainability, and social responsibility. Together with Zalando, we regularly host our Design Academy – an education and support program for young fashion designers in Europe. The Design Academy brings creative talents together with experts in design, material science, sustainability, and business development. The goal is to set new impulses for a more sustainable, inclusive, and innovative fashion sector. Each edition of the Academy focuses on a specific theme — such as adaptive fashion or material innovations.
To strengthen our team, we are looking for a committed, structured, and experienced person to take responsibility for the planning and execution of the next edition of our Design Academy as a Project Manager.
Your Tasks
Program Management:
You take overall responsibility for the planning and operational implementation of a long-standing program. Together with and under the leadership of your Team Lead, you work on professionalizing the program and conceptualizing further editions of the Design Academy.
Partner Management:
You coordinate and communicate in the collaboration with the program partners (participants, trainers, contributing industry partners, experts, jury, textile and knit producers, suppliers, and external service providers). The focus here is on smooth collaboration, the satisfaction of all parties involved, and achieving the desired results.
Project Management:
You create and maintain project and timelines in close consultation with the communication officer, independently coordinate all program phases (e.g., application phase, remote phase, design sprint, residency, showcase/event), and ensure that partners are smoothly integrated.
Workshops & Events:
You will organize and coordinate workshops, events, and residency phases—both digital and in-person—including venues, virtual platforms, material provision, participant support, travel, accommodation, and equipment. You will also facilitate the events, for example, by giving welcome and introductory speeches. During the residency phase, you will oversee the development of a collection with ten designers, including prototype development in collaboration with coaches, sampling and knitwear studios, as well as coordinating a professionally executed photoshoot with external partners. You will present the program's results in an exhibition during Berlin Fashion Week, which you will coordinate in collaboration with your team lead, the communications manager, and external service partners.
Quality & Performance:
You ensure that quality, budget, and timelines are met, support fundraising and sponsor management, and take on reporting. You also analyze the results of the Academy, document lessons learned, and prepare reports and public relations.
Further Development:
VORN is a growing company that implements other research and development projects under the same leadership, in addition to the Design Academy. This gives you the opportunity to coordinate additional projects, take on responsibility, and develop yourself professionally and substantively.
Your Working Style & Skills
You work in an organized, structured way with an eye for detail — you maintain an overview even in complex processes.
Very good communication skills — in both German and English — to communicate effectively with international designers, partners, and the VORN team.
Experience in planning and executing projects or programs (e.g., event management, educational programs, fashion or creative projects).
Ability to bring together stakeholders with different perspectives and needs and jointly develop sustainable solutions.
Proactive, solution-oriented, and reliable working style.
Interest in sustainability, innovation, fashion & social responsibility — ideally with an awareness of the current challenges in the fashion industry.
Your Qualification
Professional experience in project management, event management, program coordination, or comparable fields — preferably in the fashion, creative, or education sector.
Professional experience in the design, sourcing, and production coordination of fashion and textile products.
Experience in confidently negotiating with partners, organizing workshops/events, or complex programs.
Very good organizational and administrative skills.
Excellent team and communication skills.
