We focus our research on mobility, metrology, engineering for health, and the future city. Our core disciplines include a comprehensive engineering division and a strong natural sciences division, closely linked with business sciences, social sciences, educational sciences, and the humanities.
Our university is located at the heart of one of Europe’s most research-intensive regions. We cooperate closely with the more than 20 internationally renowned research institutions in our vicinity and our network extends to our partner universities in Germany and all over the world, with whom we maintain strong relationships.
Faculty of Life Sciences
We offer a
Professorship for Chemical Engineering (W3)
The appointment is for the earliest possible date.
Your responsibilities
We are looking for an internationally recognized researcher in the field of “Technical Chemistry” with an interdisciplinary research and teaching profile. The professorship will focus on basic research with the aim of a sustainable conversion of the chemical industry from classic large-scale technical processes to “green” CO?-neutral alternatives. Of particular interest here are electrocatalytic processes that enable the direct integration of sustainably generated electrical energy into chemical value chains. The profile of the professorship should be more strongly focused on the development of “Power-to-X” processes that enable technical applications and thus complement research into new electrode materials or fundamental mechanistic studies. Concrete applications may lie in the reduction of CO2 to corresponding platform chemicals such as methanol, ethene, etc., the defunctionalization of renewable raw materials, the upgrading of “under utilized resources”, or the conversion into chemical energy through the production of synthetic fuels.
The professorship is associated with teaching duties at all levels of undergraduate education in the field of chemical engineering (technical chemistry) .
The successful candidate (f/m/d) is expected to be committed to the university’s strategic goals and to actively shape its holistic development (https://www.tu-braunschweig.de/hochschulentwicklung). In addition to the classic service areas of a university (research, teaching and studies, transfer, governance and administration), this applies in particular to digitalisation, internationalisation, equality and diversity, as well as knowledge exchange.

Very good command of the English language and willingness to teach in English
Readiness to network locally and nationally with working groups within and outside the Faculty of Life Sciences and with non-university research institutions
Willingness to engage in interdisciplinary cooperation, especially within the important core research areas of the TU Braunschweig such as "Mobility" or "Metrology" and the research centers such as the Centre for Circular Production of Next Batteries and Fuel Cells (CPC) or the Automotive Research Centre Niedersachsen (NFF)
Commitment to increasing the internationalization and international visibility of the Technische Universität Braunschweig
Commitment to diversity and equality
