The University of Marburg, founded in 1527, offers a variety of excellent programs of study for around 22,000 students and confronts the important topics of our time through excellent research across a broad spectrum of sciences.
The Faculty of Medicine, Institute of Pharmacology, research group of Prof. Dr. Thomas Worzfeld, is currently accepting applications for a
Postdoc in Kidney Plasticity
The position is initially offered for a period of 2 years. The starting date is as soon as possible. The position is fulltime with salary and benefits commensurate with a public service position in the state Hesse, Germany (TV-H E 13, 100 %).
The Institute of Pharmacology focuses on deciphering the molecular mechanisms that control regeneration as well as tumor initiation and progression in epithelial tissues
). The project will elucidate the molecular and biomechanical programs of renal cellular plasticity, which are crucial for kidney repair after damage. Methodologically, the project aims to develop novel organoid-on-a-chip models of kidney injury. The applied techniques will include mouse and human kidney organoids, tissue engineering, biomechanics, single cell-analyses, advanced imaging, and animal models.
Tasks:
to actively pursue the proposed project with the aim of characterizing the molecular, biomechanical and functional mechanisms of epithelial plasticity in kidney repair
to contribute to the preparation of scientific publications, grant applications and presentations
to contribute to teaching in Biomedical Sciences (Master programme)
The position will be filled by a temporary contract that is limited to the period which is necessary to gain further scientific expertise (such as the preparation for a subsequent qualification period). Within the entrusted tasks the opportunity for independent scientific work to obtain further personal qualification is given. The limitation of the contract complies to § 2, 1 WissZeitVG.
Profile:
M.Sc. degree or equivalent as well as Ph.D. degree in a Life Sciences subject
experience in tissue engineering and biomechanics
experience in cell biology including work with organoids, molecular biology, advanced imaging, and animal experiments would be advantageous
high motivation, team spirit and creativity
ability to pursue research projects independently as well as in collaborations
