Das Institut für Neuropathologie ist als akkreditierte Einrichtung in der umfassenden neuropathologischen Patientenversorgung tätig und seit seiner Gründung vor über 40 Jahren fester Bestandteil der Labordiagnostik der Universitätsmedizin Göttingen. Über das diagnostische Leistungsspektrum sämtlicher Bereiche der Neuropathologie hinaus steht das Institut für referenzpathologische Fragen mit Schwerpunkten entzündlicher und degenerativer Erkrankungen des zentralen Nervensystems zur Verfügung. Forschungsschwerpunkte des Instituts sind die multiple Sklerose sowie die Parkinson’sche Erkrankung.
