The Infrastructure & Server Operations Engineer / Lead is responsible for the planning, installation, implementation, administration, and optimization of the company’s IT infrastructure, including servers, storage, network, virtualization, backup, and core enterprise systems. This role ensures high availability, security, and performance of all data center and cloud environments supporting enterprise applications, end-user services, and business operations. The position serves as a technical authority and operational lead for infrastructure management — collaborating with application, security, and support teams to sustain a resilient and scalable IT foundation.
Key Responsibilities
Service & Infrastructure Installation & Administration
Install, configure, and commission physical and virtual servers.
Rack and cable servers, SAN/NAS systems, and network equipment in data centers.
Perform OS installations, firmware updates, RAID configuration, and hardware diagnostics.
Manage, configure, and monitor Windows Server environments (2016–2022).
Oversee Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, GPO, and file services.
Administer and maintain virtualized environments (VMware vSphere / Hyper-V).
Install and configure SAN/NAS storage arrays and perform LUN provisioning.
Maintain patch management and OS updates across server infrastructure.
Storage & Backup Management
Install and maintain enterprise storage platforms (SAN/NAS).
Perform capacity planning, data tiering, and storage performance tuning.
Provision volumes, configure replication, and manage snapshots.
Manage enterprise backup tools (Veeam / Acronis / Azure Backup).
Perform backup verification and restoration tests and maintain DR readiness.
Network & Connectivity Operations
Install and support LAN/WAN network infrastructure including switches, routers, access points, and firewalls.
Monitor VPN, Wi-Fi, and remote-access solutions (Cisco AnyConnect / FortiClient).
Troubleshoot network performance issues using diagnostic tools.
Coordinate with ISPs and vendors for connectivity and hardware repairs.
Cloud & Virtualization Management
Manage hybrid workloads across on-prem and Azure Cloud environments.
Administer VMs, clusters, snapshots, and cloud compute resources.
Support Office 365 tenant administration and hybrid identity models.
System Monitoring & Incident Response
Monitor infrastructure performance using SolarWinds, PRTG, or Azure Monitor.
Respond to alerts, investigate incidents, and perform RCA reporting.
Documentation & Governance
Document infrastructure designs, runbooks, and installation guides in SharePoint.
Maintain inventory of server, network, and storage assets.
Ensure compliance with ITIL, ISO 27001, and cybersecurity standards.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or equivalent technical discipline.
2–5 years of experience in end-user or desktop support within an enterprise IT environment.
Strong technical understanding of Windows OS, Microsoft 365, and network troubleshooting.
Hands-on experience with laptop hardware, printing infrastructure, and endpoint security tools.
Familiar with ITIL service management and ticket-based support systems.
Fluent in English; German proficiency preferred.
