IN SHORT

As Head of Subsurface Engineering, you are responsible for the further development of underground storage facilities based on reservoirs or caverns. You lead a multidisciplinary team focused on project development and the safe, efficient operation of subsurface infrastructure in full compliance with SEFE’s HSSE standards and guidelines. A key aspect of the role is supporting long-term strategic planning and budgeting for the modernization and expansion of storage facilities, including potential utilisation for hydrogen and/or other media, in close collaboration with the storage owner.

WHAT WILL YOU DO

Implementation of subsurface engineering projects for existing storage facilities Technical governance in accordance with European and corporate requirements, including the definition of technical standards for SEFE Storage, alignment with group specifications, and the development of process and engineering manuals, technical data, and approval management Long-term strategic planning and budgeting of modification and modernization of storage underground facilities Execution of special technical projects outside of routine maintenance and repair, such as ensuring the integrity and availability of storage systems Technical assessment of strategic initiatives including energy transition-related projects in close collaboration with the storage owners, nternal investors and internal Business Development departments Well service, maintenance and investigations for storage wells Preparation, control and optimization of project cost budgets Support SEFE Storage’s engagement within relevant technical associations Development of carbon dioxide storage projects, in particular the investigation of geology and reservoirs Coordination of induvidual subsurface disciplines (drilling, reservoir engineering, well service, geology) Supporting the management wtih technical associations Coordination of key subsurface disciplines, including drilling, reservoir engineering, well service, and geology Collaboration in the management team for the implementation of CCS along the value chain

WHAT WILL YOU BRING

Experience in subsurface development and engineering, operation of storage facilities Demonstrated leadership experience Solid understanding of technical documentation and regulatory standards Master's degree or similar qualification in Reservoir Engineering, Geology or a related field with several years of experience in managing technical subsurface engineering personnel Strong sense of responsibility for the safety and integrity of storage wells Expertise in reservoir engineering Experience in project management, equipment procurement, and contract negotiation Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Fluent German (C2) & written/spoken English language (C1)
