Full Professor
(W2, Tenure Track W2)
in Experimental Astroparticle Physics
at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural
Sciences
This is a tenure-track professorship for a five-year term leading to a ten-
ured W2 position. The position is funded by the Tenure Track Program of
the German federal and state governments. This call for applications is
therefore particularly targeted at early career researchers. For further in-

We are inviting applications for the position of full professor in the area of
experimental astroparticle physics, to be filled as soon as possible. The
applicant carries out experimental research in the field of astroparticle
physics, broadly defined. He/she has achieved international visibility
through publications in high-impact, peer-reviewed journals. The re-
search may focus on the development of detectors or data analysis in
one or more of the following areas: cosmic rays, gamma rays, neutrinos,
dark matter, axions, gravitational waves. She/he will be interested in de-
veloping synergies with existing RWTH activities in particle and astroparti-
cle physics and beyond. The professorship will be tenured after success-
ful evaluation. The future professor is expected to raise external funds, to
contribute to the strategic development of the department and to teach
experimental physics at the bachelor’s and master’s level.
The requirements include a doctoral degree and additional research ex-
perience, such as a habilitation (post-doctoral lecturing qualification) or
equivalent achievements gained as a university researcher or professor or
in a research position outside academia. Teaching ability and dedication
are essential and the application should include proof of this. Fluent Ger-
man is not required to start the position but the successful candidate will
be expected to hold classes in German within the first 5 years.
