Tesla’s Supplier Industrialization team is responsible for component development, part and process qualification activities, quality management, and continuous improvement activities at suppliers. The job requires effective communication at all levels both with internal and external teams, traveling to suppliers in different regions, and on-the-spot critical decision making. The goal: developing suppliers by teaching best practices for manufacturing, quality, and engineering, delivering on time quantities of high quality component parts into Tesla’s production processes to enable extremely rapid development cycles and product launches, driving lean manufacturing principals to reduce waste and improve quality.
What You'll Do
Lead feasibility analysis for injection molding tools, ensuring alignment with project specifications and manufacturing capabilities.
Perform detailed cost breakdowns of injection tools by analyzing material, labor, and overhead costs, providing insights for cost-effective tool designs.
Evaluate and recommend tool-building strategies, ensuring optimal resource allocation and minimizing lead time without compromising on quality.
Quantify execution time for each stage of tool development, identifying opportunities for efficiency improvements.
Collaborate closely with product development, manufacturing, and procurement teams to ensure seamless integration of tooling solutions within project timelines.
Support vendor selection and management by providing technical insights on tooling capabilities and cost efficiencies.
Utilize CAD and simulation tools to validate design concepts and ensure manufacturability.
Stay up-to-date with industry trends and advancements in injection molding techniques and tooling technologies.
What You'll Bring
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
5+ years of experience in injection molding tooling or a related industry.
Strong understanding of injection molding processes, tool design, and manufacturing techniques.
Proven experience in conducting cost breakdowns and feasibility analyses for tooling projects.
Proficiency in CAD software and tooling simulation tools.
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with various teams and stakeholders.
Business travel, both domestic and international is required. Expect more than 50% of your time traveling including short notice.
