The mission of the Leibniz Centre for Agricultural Landscape Research (ZALF) as a nationally and internationally active research institute is to deliver solutions for an ecologically, economically and socially sustainable agriculture – together with society. ZALF is a member of the Leibniz Association and is located in Müncheberg (approx. 35 minutes by regional train from Berlin-Lichtenberg). It also maintains a research station with further locations in Dedelow and Paulinenaue.
The project „Agroforestry for sustainable multifunctional agriculture (FORMULA)“ researches how tree rows influence the microclimate, resource availability, biodiversity, and crop growth in their proximity. In our subproject we focus on crop responses to tree shade, water- and nutrient limitation, and microclimatic gradients. Therefore, we collect data with permanently installed sensors (e.g. irradiation sensors), handheld sensors (e.g. leaf porometer), and manually (e.g. crop phenology and yield), which we later use in statistical and process-based models. Furthermore, we perform experiments that include extra fertilization and irrigation.
We are offering a six-month position for 40h a month starting in March or April at our location in Müncheberg and the research site in Löwenberger Land as a
