Student Assistant In Computational Cancer Biology (m/f/d)

Frankfurt am Main, HE, DE, Germany

Job Description

03.12.2025 | Tyler
We are seeking a Student Assistant (HiWi) to join the lab of Dr. Michael Tyler at the Georg-Speyer-Haus, supporting our research using data integration approaches to study cancer progression.

####

Description

Our lab aims to understand the phenotypes of different tumour cells and the interactions between them, and to measure how these change during the progression from healthy tissue to advanced metastatic disease. Our work is centered around the curation and integration of many published genomic datasets, with a focus on single-cell RNA-sequencing (scRNA-seq) and spatial transcriptomic data. By conducting large-scale comparisons across many patients, cancer types and disease stages, we aim to uncover general principles of tumour development and identify new therapeutic opportunities. This work involves analysis of large datasets with statistical computing tools. Your tasks will include curating datasets and assisting in the development of computational methods for detection and comparison of cell states and interactions. Specific challenges include efficient handling of large volumes of data, and controlling for technical artefacts while preserving biological effects.
