Role Overview

We’re hiring a

Staff Product Service Engineer

with deep expertise in

MariaDB and PostgreSQL

to support, optimize, and scale our database-backed services. This role is pivotal in ensuring high availability, performance, and reliability across customer-facing platforms and internal systems.

Key Responsibilities

Serve as the technical engineer for database operations, focusing on MariaDB and PostgreSQL environments Diagnose and resolve complex production issues related to database performance, replication, and availability Collaborate with product and engineering teams to design scalable data architectures and service integrations Automate routine database maintenance tasks and contribute to infrastructure-as-code initiatives Implement monitoring, alerting, and backup strategies aligned with SLAs and compliance requirements Provide guidance on schema design, query optimization, and data lifecycle management Mentor junior engineers and contribute to service reliability best practices

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

Extensive hands-on experience with

MariaDB

and

PostgreSQL

in production environments Strong understanding of database internals, indexing strategies, replication, and failover mechanisms Proficiency in SQL performance tuning and query optimization Experience with backup/restore strategies, disaster recovery planning, and data migration Familiarity with monitoring tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, pg_stat_statements) Fluent in German and English (written and verbal) Due to the nature of the role and regulatory requirements for this role, only candidates who are German or EU citizens can be considered.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with cloud-hosted database services (e.g., Amazon RDS, Google Cloud SQL) Knowledge of containerized database deployments (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) Scripting skills in Python, Bash, or similar for automation and tooling Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices related to database changes
