We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Level 2 Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO L2) to oversee and enforce our safety program. The ideal candidate will be responsible for conducting inspections, identifying hazards, and providing training to ensure a safe and compliant working environment. This role is crucial for protecting our team and maintaining a culture of safety across all projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Safety Program Implementation: Assist in the implementation and maintenance of the project's Site-Specific Accident Prevention Plan.
Inspections & Audits: Conduct daily safety inspections and audits of the work site to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
Hazard Communication: Ensure all personnel are aware of potential risks and trained on proper safety procedures and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Compliance & Reporting: Ensure the site is compliant with OSHA standards and all other federal, state, and local safety regulations. Document and report all safety-related activities.
Training: Lead safety briefings, toolbox talks, and other training sessions for all site personnel.
Incident Management: Assist in the investigation of accidents, injuries, and near-misses. Document findings and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
Desired Qualifications:
Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is required. A degree or certification from a technical school in a safety-related field is a significant plus.
Experience: A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a safety-related role, preferably in a construction or maintenance environment.
Technical Skills: Comprehensive knowledge of OSHA 1926 Construction standards and EM 385-1-1 requirements. Proven ability to conduct safety audits and perform hazard analysis.
Leadership: Excellent communication, organizational, and training skills. The ability to effectively enforce safety rules while collaborating with the team.
Certification: A valid driver's license is required. An OSHA 30-hour Construction or General Industry certification is required, along with proof of an L2-level safety course completion.
Physical Requirements:
Requires the ability to stand, walk, and climb for extended periods to conduct on-site inspections.
Must be able to work in various indoor and outdoor conditions, including exposure to loud noise, dust, and all types of weather.
