This role will be part of the Corporate Functions Tower for Group Technology, which oversees IT service delivery and manages key relationships across all corporate and central units, including Finance, HR, Legal & Compliance, Services/Facilities, and Procurement. The Tower also manages cross-functional domains such as document management, collaboration platforms, corporate websites, and Group-wide Identity Access Management (IAM), as well as selected central platforms and Regulatory/Integrated Risk Management (IRM) product delivery.
As a Solution Architect, you will spearhead the design, implementation, and operation of scalable and secure solutions, including SAP and Azure technologies. This role is pivotal in aligning technology initiatives with business goals, while also ensuring cost efficiency, compliance, and operational excellence. You will leverage your deep expertise in solution architecture, platform development, and strategic planning to lead the creation and design of technology and digital solutions that meet customer requirements and adhere to Munich Re Group’s architectural standards. In this capacity, you will drive the development of integrated solutions for crucial projects.

Technical Leadership in Data & Software Development
Lead the design and development of scalable, secure, and reliable software solutions for Data Analytics, Data Warehousing and Reporting.
Drive technical decision-making, ensuring alignment with architectural principles, coding standards, and product objectives.
Evaluate and introduce new technologies and frameworks that enhance product performance and data capabilities.
Product Development & Lifecycle
Shape and deliver product features and enhancements across the full lifecycle, from design through to deployment and continuous improvement.
Translate business and stakeholder requirements into actionable technical solutions.
Monitor product performance and data usage, using insights to recommend enhancements and optimizations.
Data Governance, Compliance & Quality
Ensure solutions comply with data governance, security, and regulatory standards.
Maintain high-quality documentation and contribute to best practices in data engineering and software development.
Collaboration & Delivery
Act as a key technical counterpart for product managers, data/requirements engineers, and business stakeholders.
Support vendor management and ensure external deliverables meet technical expectations.
Provide guidance during incidents, root cause analysis, and continuity testing to secure reliable operations.
Continuous Improvement & Mentoring
Foster a culture of technical excellence, continuous improvement, and knowledge sharing within the team.
Contribute to technical training, demos, and Proof of Concepts to showcase and validate product capabilities.
Your profile
Preferably a University degree in Computer engineering / IT or similar qualification
Several years of experience in delivery of IT solutions (preferably in the financial services or insurance industry)
Demonstrated experience in large scale full stack BI/Warehouse implementation projects.
Very good understanding of Azure technologies (Data Lake, Databricks, Spark, Power BI) and/or SAP technologies (BW/4, SAP Analytics Cloud, SAP Datasphere/BDC)
Deep understanding of data management principles, solution development life cycles, enterprise architecture, and IT risk & security standards and best practices
Preferably, you already have relevant certifications, e.g. TOGAF, ITIL, Microsoft, SAP, or have the readiness to pursue one with our support
Strong solution strategy ability, including a demonstrated ability to communicate solutions and their benefits to stakeholders in IT and business unit
Organizational change management capabilities promoting collaboration, accountability and overcoming silos
Thought leadership – able to monitor market trends and to guide creative thinking on future technology capabilities which will help increase the business value of Munich Re.
