What to Expect


The Failure Analysis Team’s mission is to determine root cause and contributing factors to improve the experience of Tesla’s Energy Products by reducing field issues, in collaboration with large cross-section of other engineering teams. Engineers and Technicians on the team are responsible for a wide variety Energy Product system like Powerwall, Megapack and Supercharger. This is an individual contributor role with great internal visibility role that requires extensive hands-on work focused on failure analysis and root cause activities.


We are seeking a multi-faceted individual who will be responsible for all aspects of identifying, analyzing, root causing, implementing countermeasures, and reporting on issues effecting systems including power electronics, low voltage, and battery systems among others.


To be effective in this role, the engineer will need to be intimately familiar with the detailed behavior of these electro-mechanical components and the tools and equipment used in their design and manufacture. He/She will work with other Engineering teams to root cause and implement countermeasures of field issues to improve quality, reliability, durability of the products.

What You'll Do

1+ years of experience with PCB debugging required 2+ years of lab experience preferred Strong demonstrable experience with electrical test equipment: Power Supplies, Multimeter, Oscilloscopes, and other common equipment Extremely proficient at reading schematics and troubleshooting analog and digital circuits Excellent written and verbal communication skills required. Proficient in data entry and writing procedures

Drive issue resolution from root cause analysis to countermeasure implementation on electromechanical components from Tesla’s Energy Products Use analytical tools and techniques including electrical debug, component level inspection, and functional testing Work closely with engineers to help solve technical problems you spot Create clear, step-by-step debug procedures for other technicians to use Apply strong attention to detail to ensure issues are resolved accurately Take ownership of tasks and work independently when needed Convey findings effectively with the team through excellent verbal and written communication
