POSITION DESCRIPTION: Automation Software Development:
  • Design and develop software solutions for the control and automation of SLM machines
  • Implement machine vision and artificial intelligence algorithms for improved machine performance
  • Solve optimization problems to maximize the efficiency and coverage of the LPBF process
  • Utilize machine learning techniques to improve the ability to adapt and learn from sensor signals
  • Develop AI-driven strategies for decision-making
  • Develop control strategies to optimize machining patterns and resource utilization.
  • Implement robust error-handling mechanisms
  • Collect and analyze data from machine process sensors
Hardware Integration:
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate automation software with machine hardware
  • Implement computer vision algorithms to enable the machine to recognize and navigate around obstacles, and changes in process conditions
  • Integrate various sensors (e.g., cameras, 3D sensing, acoustics) to provide real-time data for decision-making
  • Debug and troubleshoot hardware and software issues to ensure seamless operation
Testing and Validation:
  • Develop and execute test plans to validate the functionality and reliability of automation systems
  • Identify and resolve any performance or quality issues through rigorous testing
Documentation:
  • Create detailed technical documentation for software and hardware designs
  • Maintain comprehensive records of software versions, updates, and changes
Research and Innovation:
  • Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies in automation and robotics
  • Participate in research projects to drive innovation and improve product performance
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
  • University degree in physics, computer science, electrical engineering or mechanical engineering (possibly also mathematics)
  • Proven experience in automation software development, including programming languages such as C#, C++, Python, or Java
  • Strong knowledge of robotic systems, machine vision, and artificial intelligence
  • Preferably experience in modeling of (laser) processes and/or data analytics, machine learning, neural networks
  • Experience with motion control systems and PLC programming is a plus
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and in a team
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Attention to detail and a passion for innovation
