Tesla is accelerating the world's transition to sustainable energy. Revolutionary strategies and products were developed within a few years and successfully launched on a large scale. This is only possible through extraordinary speed, innovation and efficiency.
Gigafactory Berlin forms the perfect basis for rolling out Tesla's incredible success story in Europe. The most important pillar for this are our employees. Their passion, motivation and engagement ensure that we achieve our goals. We are looking for you to continue and expand this success story together.
The Gigafactory Berlin Design and Construction Team is looking to hire a Senior BIM Manager / VDC Engineer. This person will be directly responsible for the construction models of the Gigafactory. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience working with large, complex projects and can multi-task and collaborate with several technical disciplines utilizing state-of-the-art VDC tools.
What You'll Do
Drive Strategy: Lead the development and implementation of standardized BIM processes, workflows, and data management strategies to enhance efficiency, quality, and consistency across all projects.
Champion Innovation: Identify, evaluate, and oversee the implementation of industry-leading BIM/VDC technologies and digital construction methodologies (Industry 4.0) to keep the team at the forefront of the industry.
Optimize Workflows: Work with engineering, design, and construction leaders to develop and refine an integrated model delivery approach, focusing on optimizing the entire project lifecycle from design to handover.
Proactive Problem-Solving: Identify potential conflicts and design challenges at a strategic level, presenting well-thought-out, cost-effective solutions that align with project goals and timelines.
Model Federation Management: Oversee the setup and maintenance of large-scale, federated building models, integrating 8-10 design disciplines and numerous manufacturing process models across globally distributed teams.
Coordination Leadership: Lead multi-disciplinary coordination efforts, facilitating clash detection sessions with a focus on proactive problem-solving and optimizing constructability rather than just issue reporting.
Data Integration: Ensure the seamless integration of work from internal layout teams, tool-line owners, and external trade contractors, maintaining the model as the single source of truth.
Advanced Reality Capture: Utilize laser scans, point clouds, and other photogrammetry data for design validation, clash detection, and as-built documentation to guarantee model accuracy and resolve discrepancies.
Project Handover: Manage the successful handover of the completed as-built model to the facilities team, ensuring it is robust and maintainable for future operational use.
Mentor and Develop: Act as a primary mentor for junior BIM/VDC engineers and coordinators, providing technical guidance, fostering a culture of continuous learning, and developing their skills.
Knowledge Sharing: Serve as a subject matter expert within the team, establishing and documenting best practices that elevate the entire team's capabilities.
Growth Potential: Demonstrate strong leadership qualities by assisting in task delegation, workflow management, and team development, with a clear potential to grow into a more advanced role.
What You'll Bring
Demonstrated exceptional ability in BIM/VDC roles.
At least 8 years applying Revit and Navisworks in professional settings.
5+ years collaborating directly with trades during construction of advanced facilities (e.g., semiconductor, solar, or battery plants).
Bachelor's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering (preferred); civil/structural engineering or architecture backgrounds also considered.
Track record managing workshared cloud models via Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) or equivalent CDE platforms.
Strong skills in AutoCAD, IFC formats, data exchange protocols, and familiarity with broader BIM/parametric tools (advanced proficiency ideal).
Hands-on use of scripting or visual programming for automation, such as Dynamo and Python (expertise preferred).
Background aligning BIM parameters with Work Breakdown Structure for quantity takeoffs, cost control, and construction integration.
Deep knowledge of laser scanning methods, including processing point clouds from reality capture tools for model creation, clash detection, and quality assurance.
Skill in analyzing and visualizing BIM datasets to derive actionable insights and convey them clearly.
Additional Requirements:
