We’re looking for a Senior Engineer to join our Venue Experience team, one of the core product teams shaping how customers discover, browse, and shop on Wolt.



The team owns one of the most critical parts of the Wolt consumer experience - the Venue Page. This is where customers discover great restaurant dishes, thousands of products from our retail partners, and fill their carts. Our mission is to build a world-class shopping experience that makes browsing and buying effortless for millions of users.



What you'll be doing



As a Senior Engineer in the team, you’ll work on high-impact and technically challenging problems such as:

Scalability:

Designing systems capable of handling thousands to millions of items per venue.

Expansion:

Developing new features and capabilities to support emerging retail verticals across Wolt.

Reliability:

Ensuring bulletproof performance and uptime for a service that directly powers our customer experience.



You’ll take part in the entire development lifecycle - from design and implementation to release and maintenance - and have end-to-end ownership of your features and systems.



You’ll work in an autonomous, cross-functional distributed team that consists of a team lead, product lead, backend engineers, mobile and web engineers, designers, and data analysts. The role also involves collaboration with other teams across the consumer space like Discovery, Search, Cart & Checkout teams as well as merchant platforms. You’ll be tackling complex problems that connect multiple parts of Wolt’s ecosystem at the core of the customer shopping experience.



For this role, you can be based in Berlin, Helsinki, Stockholm, or Tallinn. We offer a flexible hybrid setup, so you can work from the office, from home, or combine both - whichever suits you best.



Our humble expectations



We’re looking for a product-minded solution-oriented engineer with passion for solving problems with technology. The ideal candidate has excellent fundamental engineering skills, and adaptability to work across different languages and technologies throughout our stack. More important than deep expertise in a single language is the ability to learn quickly, write clean and efficient code, and collaborate effectively within and outside the team in a diverse environment.



The team primarily uses Python, we expect at least some production-level experience with it. But more importantly we value experience in any backend technology from a customer-facing product with high throughput. Golang is an emerging technology at Wolt and we consider experience with it a strong plus.



In addition, previous experience in frontend development, particularly with TypeScript and React, and the willingness and ability to contribute to the frontend side when needed is also considered a bonus.

What we expect you to bring:

Proven experience designing, building, and owning backend services or complex features end-to-end.

Strong ownership mindset - you take full responsibility for your service’s quality, performance, and reliability.

Broad technical background with openness to learn and work across multiple languages and technologies.

Experience with Python in production environments; Go experience is a big plus.

An interest and ability to contribute to the front side when needed - we value engineers who can collaborate effectively across the stack and adapt to help where it’s most impactful.

Familiarity with scalable architectures, distributed systems, and API design.

Beyond technical expertise, we look for:

A product-oriented mindset - you care about how your work impacts real users.

Excellent collaboration and communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional partners.

A willingness to take initiative, share ideas openly, and continuously improve both the product and how we build it.
