Die Klinik für Psychiatrie und Psychotherapie an der UMG ist eine Akutklinik für psychiatrische Erkrankungen. Der stationäre Bereich umfasst neun Stationen, wovon sechs vollstationär mit 104 Plätzen und drei teilstationär mit 65 Plätzen geführt werden. Eine ambulante Behandlung mit diversen Spezialambulanzen wird i.R. der Hochschul- und Psychiatrischen Institutsambulanz (PIA) angeboten. Unsere Außenstelle im BürgerGesundheitsPark Bad Gandersheim bietet zudem eine teilstationäre Behandlung mit 25 Plätzen und eine ambulante Versorgung i.R. der dortigen PIA für Jugendliche ab dem 16. Geburtstag sowie Erwachsene in Zusammenarbeit mit der Klinik für Kinder- und Jugendpsychiatrie und Psychotherapie der UMG.
Die Professur für Medizinische Psychologie und Medizinische Soziologie (MPMS), die sich in großem Umfang an der Lehre für die Medizinstudierenden beteiligt, wird derzeit durch die Klinik für Psychiatrie und Psychotherapie und die Klinik für Psychosomatische Medizin und Psychotherapie verwaltet. Die Sekretariatsstelle ist in der Klinik für Psychiatrie und Psychotherapie verankert.
