Position Overview
As Security Officer at TELUS Digital's Essen facility, you will play a pivotal role in safeguarding our people, assets, and operations while ensuring compliance with international security standards. This position combines physical security management with compliance oversight, requiring a dynamic professional who can balance day-to-day security operations with strategic security initiatives. You will be responsible for maintaining our facility's security infrastructure, coordinating emergency response protocols, and ensuring adherence to global security standards including PCIDSS and ISO 27001.
Working within both local and global security frameworks, you will serve as the primary security liaison for our Essen location, managing relationships with external security providers, local authorities, and internal stakeholders. This role offers the opportunity to shape and implement security policies that protect our digital and physical assets while fostering a security-conscious culture through training and awareness programs. The ideal candidate will bring a blend of technical security expertise, leadership capabilities, and a strong understanding of international security compliance requirements.
Responsibilities:
Participates in both local and global Information Security teams for implementing and maintaining PCIDSS and ISO 27001 standards;
Reports potential audit points, builds and implements the corresponding action plan;
Supports periodic internal and client audits regarding physical security policy compliance
Provides/conducts specific training and implements measures to optimize and maintain a high level of awareness regarding internal security policies within the operational team;
Uses and maintains equipment specific to access control and video surveillance activities;
Creates, modifies or cancels access card rights and operates/maintains the access rights database;
Ensures that hiring and termination processes comply with security policies;
Coordinates the emergency response team; develops, implements and executes emergency evacuation plan and procedures;
Coordinates and participates in periodic first aid and fire prevention training;
Management of the external security guards.
Develops and maintains good working relationships with local authorities and building administration personnel;
Coordinates specific activities in case of any type of security, safety or emergency incident; prepares and sends related reports to direct superior.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Security Management, Criminal Justice, or a related field
ISO 27001 Lead Implementer or Lead Auditor certification preferred
PCI DSS certification or demonstrable knowledge preferred
Minimum of 5 years of experience in corporate security, preferably in the technology sector
Proven experience implementing and maintaining PCIDSS and ISO 27001 standards
Experience in conducting security audits and developing action plans
Demonstrated ability in managing external security personnel
Fluent in German (C1 level or higher)
Proficient in English (B2 level or higher)
Proficiency in access control systems and video surveillance equipment
Strong knowledge of physical security policies and procedures
Familiarity with emergency response protocols and evacuation procedures
Competence in database management for access rights systems
Understanding of cybersecurity principles as they relate to physical security
Must be eligible to work in Germany
Clean criminal record (polizeiliches Führungszeugnis)
Willingness to undergo background checks as required by German law
First Aid and Fire Safety certification, or willingness to obtain within 3 months of employment
Flexibility to work in shifts, including nights and weekends as needed
Valid driver's license
Previous experience in a multinational corporate environment
Knowledge of German labor laws and security regulations
Familiarity with TELUS Digital's products and services
