An important aspect is the tailoring of the properties of the inner niobium cavity surface. To better understand the so-called Mid-T bake, a recent discovery of a cavity surface treatment, a thorough investigation of material and SRF parameters of niobium samples will be pursued. Your task will mainly include: Surface characterization of samples with advanced material analysis techniques (SEM/EDX, EBSD, XPS, XRR, XRD) and correlate those results with SRF properties obtained in AC/DC measurements. A special focus will be on the characterization and correlation on the level of single grain surfaces.
