In the DFG-funded project ‘MuCoRe:

RRAM-based Multi-Context FPGA’, innovative high-performance systems are being investigated, designed and developed through the integration of analogue memristor technology and reconfigurable digital technology. Using multi-bit RRAM cells, which can reliably store up to 8 states, FPGA platforms are being designed that can store multiple configurations in parallel, enabling extremely fast switching between different applications. In a parallel approach, novel logic devices are being developed using computation-in-memory based on RRAM cells and embedded in an overall system. This project has the potential to overcome the limitations of current technology and pave new ways in the development of digital circuits and FPGA designs. Thanks to the connection to the DFG's SPP 2262 ‘MemrisTec’, continuous contact with leading researchers in the field of memristive devices is possible.

THESE ARE YOUR TASKS:

research into reconfigurable systems based on multi-bit capable resistive RAM (RRAM) cells in the context of energy-efficient integrated systems with the aim of obtaining a scientific qualification (doctorate) development of RRAM-based FPGA components: development of LUTs, interconnects and complex logic blocks (CLBs) with RRAM-based configuration memory design of an RRAM-based MC-FPGA: development of a complete RRAM-based MC-FPGA design using open-source tool chains evaluation of the performance and reliability of the developed hardware design at the system level development of synthesis, implementation and verification tools for the designed FPGA platforms analysis and evaluation of cross-layer optimisation strategies for mapping applications as hardware designs onto the FPGA platforms designed in the project organisation and implementation of scientific events publication of research results

THIS MAKES YOU A GOOD FIT:

completed university degree (state examination, diploma, master's or comparable degree) in computer science, electrical engineering, information technology or a related field, preferably with very good results in-depth understanding of digital logic for the design and implementation of novel logic circuits fundamental knowledge of how novel memory elements work very good written and spoken English; optionally, knowledge of German is an advantage for communication with project partners desirable is: practical experience in the design of digital circuits and their mapping on FPGA experience in the use of hardware description languages (VHDL, Verilog) and in the use of tool chains for the synthesis and implementation of digital circuits (e.g. Vivado, Synopsys, Cadence) basic programming and scripting experience (e.g. SystemC, C++, Python, Bash) practical knowledge of version control tools (e.g. git) initial experience with scientific project work and scientific publishing willingness to work and collaborate in an interdisciplinary scientific working group and to gain your own scientific qualifications very good work organisation, ability to work to deadlines and strong communication skills

WE AS AN EMPLOYER:

Equal opportunities are important to us. We welcome applications from suitable severely disabled people or people from traditionally underrepresented groups. We aim to increase the proportion of women in research and teaching and therefore encourage suitably qualified women to apply. Unfortunately, we can not cover application and travel costs.

Become part of the team

The Chair of Integrated Systems, headed by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Marc Reichenbach, conducts research into energy-efficient digital systems. On the one hand, the research focuses on methods and tools for modelling systems in order to evaluate verifiable properties of the underlying technologies at the system level. On the other hand, it focuses on novel architectures and technologies such as new computer architectures for accelerating artificial intelligence and novel storage technologies such as RRAM or HBM.

We look forward to receiving your application!
