At the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Institute of Mathematics, Chair of Applied Stochastics with a focus on Business Mathematics, subject to allocation of funds, we are filling the following position at the earliest possible date on a temporary basis for the duration of the project "SFB 1294 Data Assimilation" ending on 30.06.2029:

THESE ARE YOUR TASKS:

research in the field of applied stochastics with the aim of obtaining a scientific qualification (doctorate) research at the interface of stochastics, analysis, and numerics develope independent research ideas and conduct research on topics such as data-based dimension reduction of high-dimensional problems in stochastics and statistics work on practical projects implement algorithms participate in events organized by SFB 1294 “Data Assimilation” publish research results

THIS MAKES YOU A GOOD FIT:

completed university degree (state examination, diploma, master's degree, or comparable qualification) in mathematics, economics, or technical mathematics with very good results very good knowledge of stochastics, especially stochastic differential equations at least good knowledge of numerical analysis good knowledge of scientific and technical software, such as MATLAB or Python confident written and spoken English willingness to work seriously and with commitment on a project of one's own scientific qualification personal qualities relevant to the role, such as the ability to work to deadlines, communication skills for presenting research results, and the ability to work in interdisciplinary teams
