About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled
Mechanical Design Engineer (m/f/d)
with a strong foundation in precision machining and design for manufacturability. This role is ideal for someone with hands-on shop floor experience in high-tech manufacturing environments and a deep understanding of mechanical design principles, including GD&T and tolerance stack-up analysis.
Key
Responsibilities
Lead mechanical design projects from concept through to product release.
Develop designs optimized for manufacturability and cost efficiency.
Apply advanced GD&T principles and perform tolerance stack analyses.
Collaborate closely with vendors and manufacturing teams to ensure design feasibility, quality, and cost effectiveness.
Create detailed 3D models and engineering drawings using CAD tools.
Support prototype development and testing, incorporating feedback into design iterations.
Participate in design reviews and cross-functional team meetings.
Maintain documentation and ensure compliance with engineering standards.
Required
Qualifications
& Experience:
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
Minimum
5 years of combined practical and theoretical experience
in mechanical design and manufacturing.
Strong expertise in
precision machining
and familiarity with a wide range of manufacturing processes including:
Turning, milling, welding, electro-erosion, polishing, etc.
Proven experience in
design for manufacturability
and
cost optimization
.
Excellent knowledge of
Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
and
tolerance stack-up
.
Hands-on experience in
high-tech manufacturing environments
, preferably involving precision mechanics and diverse materials.
Demonstrated success in
vendor collaboration
and project completion to product release.
Fluent in
English
, with
good
proficiency
in German
.
Preferred
Skills:
Experience with PLM systems and engineering change processes.
Familiarity with ISO standards and quality systems.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
