About the Lab
The Lab of Translational Microbiome Research led by Dr. C. Stein-Thöringer is part of the Cluster of Excellence “Controlling Microbes to Fight Infections” (CMFI) at the University of Tübingen. Our lab – located at the M3 Research Institute – investigates how gut microbes, pathogens, the immune system and environmental factors shape cancer development, therapy outcomes and susceptibility to infections.
We are a translational research lab focused on understanding and leveraging the microbiome to improve cancer therapies including CAR-T cell therapy and other immunotherapeutic approaches. Our group integrates preclinical models, clinical studies and multi-omics profiling to uncover mechanistic links between host–microbe interactions and treatment outcomes. We collaborate closely with clinicians, industry partner and core facilities to bring cutting-edge microbiome research into real-world therapeutic applications.
What we offer An opportunity to work at the forefront of cellular therapies against cancer and microbiome-cancer research and thereby shaping the future of cancer medicine
A collaborative, interdisciplinary research environment
Opportunities for career development, mentorship and leadership experienceagreements
