Tesla’s cell manufacturing engineering group is looking for a highly motivated Manufacturing process development engineer to accelerate our next generation battery cell manufacturing program. This role will be involved in development, commissioning and ramping of high-throughput equipment, while working in a cross-functional team to test, validate, and roll-out process and product changes.
The battery cell is a critical component in Tesla vehicles and storage systems. This role will have the opportunity to make meaningful contributions to our products. The work environment is demanding, fast-paced and incredibly exciting. You will work in the Battery Cell area within the Mixing Manufacturing process development team, making you a key player in the creation of our battery cell. As a Process Technician (m/f/d), you will become an expert in our dry electrode process and use your expertise to develop, test and optimize new processes and equipment.
You will contribute to achieving the highest efficiency and quality in an exciting and challenging environment to continuously improve our outstanding product.
What You'll Do
Running trials on the line according to the program schedule
Assisting with product launches and product changes by developing standard work steps and workflows, while being heavily involved in the commissioning of new equipment
Collecting data and analyzing them with the team to implement learnings in an iterative manner
Supporting diagnosing and resolving issues as well as implementing optimization measures. Bringing in new ideas to creatively solve process challenges
Collaborating with the team to develop optimal processes and workflows, ensuring that employees in cell production have a safe and ergonomic workplace
Organizing independently and proactively the daily workflow in cooperation with the team, while also assisting in training new work processes and coaching operational teams
What You'll Bring
Completed vocational training in process engineering, mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, or a comparable field
Experience in large-scale process plant and automated processes or R&D experience in a field such as mixing, calendaring, or processes in paper, pharma or food industry
Experience with operating and troubleshooting process manufacturing equipment
Ideally, experience in the battery cell industry
Ability to work in a clean and dry room environment with low humidity, with safety being the top priority
Willingness to work in shifts punctually if required
