We are seeking a postdoctoral researcher to support THz related research and development on state-of-the-art accelerators at DESY. The Postdoc will be engaged in two projects. One will be focused on the development of THz and pump-probe acivities at the Relativistic Electron Gun for Atomic Exploration (REGAE). And another on the superradiant THz radiation generation (STERN) experiment at the European XFEL. Both projects will require the development of novel waveguides for coupling to relativistic electron beams. There will also be an emphasis on THz generation, transport and detection.

Support development of THz related diagnostics and pump-probe activities at REGAE Develop novel diagnostics and THz based techniques and technologies at REGAE Support development of novel waveguides and THz transport in the STERN experiment at the European XFEL

About you:

PhD in Physics or equivalent degree Background in accelerator physics A strong experimental background with THz including generation and detection (especially EOS) Good understanding of THz transport English at a professional scientific level Background with coding in Python, experience with simulation codes like ASTRA, CST, ECHO
