We offer excellent research environment in modern laboratories with dynamic international team. The Institute works closely together with the University Heart and Vascular Center (UHZ) and with the University Center of Cardiovascular Sciences (UCCS). The post-doc position is part of an independent research group at the Institute led by Prof. Dr. Molina.
The project focuses on characterizing human intracardiac neurons. In which the successful applicant will study the characteristics of these cells, the contact sites present between intracardiac neurons and cardiomyocytes, and investigate the effects of the interaction between intracardiac neurons and cardiomyocytes on cardiomyocyte activity. The applicant will also be provided with the opportunity for international and multidisciplinary collaborative work in both basic and clinical science.
Your tasks:
Conducting animal-free testing in a human experimental and computational model
Immunocytochemical analysis of neuron-cardiomyocyte contact sites using confocal microscopy and eventually electron microscopy
Systematic characterization of human intracardiac neuron molecular properties by confocal microscopy
Assessing the effects of the interaction between intracardiac neurons and cardiomyocytes via calcium imaging using confocal microscopy
Performing a range of standard biochemical techniques, including western blot and qPCR, to identify differences in protein expression and secretion in the presence and absence of intracardiac neurons.
Generation and analysis of large amounts of data
Presenting their work at internal and external scientific meetings, both nationally and internationally
