The Position



As a Post Doctoral researcher, you will work at the forefront of data-driven research in drug discovery and shape how the Neuroscience and Mental Health department selects and validates new targets, when developing new medicines. Join an interdisciplinary team of experts in data science, drug discovery, and our drug discovery research function to carry out proteomics experiments with access to state-of-the-art mass spectrometry and computational infrastructure.


We are interested in your ideas how proteomic technologies and data-analysis will increase our understanding of psychiatric and neurodegenerative diseases to follow the most promising targets and evolve new drugs within our Boehringer Ingelheim’s research pipeline.



This Position is limited for 2 years.

Tasks & responsibilities



In your new role, one of your key responsibilities will be the implementation of state-of-the-art mass spectrometry-based proteomics workflows to assess human and rodent brain proteomes at different regional or cellular (laser-capture microdissected tissue) resolution. Together with a technology-focused expert team you will build pipelines and scale up proteomic data collection and analysis to provide curated data for the disease-research-focused teams. You will be the main contact person for our Neuroscience and Mental Health researchers to design and conduct experiments to assess target expression profiles in disease relevant systems. Additional tasks are to educate and train Boehringer Ingelheim colleagues in proteomics analysis and to continue to develop scientific and drug development expertise.



Requirements



PhD in the field of mass spectrometry-based proteomics Experience with state-of-the-art proteomics workflows, ideally applying data-independent acquisition (DIA) workflows on a Thermo Astral mass spectrometer Experience in sample preparation from cells and tissues for LC-MS analyses is required Computer literacy with at least first programming skills (R, Python) for large-scale data analysis Experience in Neuroscience is an asset Analytical mindset, with a keen interest in advancing proteomic methodologies and the ability to work independently and collaboratively in an interdisciplinary research environment Fluent written and spoken English and German
