PhD Student (all genders) – Autoimmunity and infection in gastroenterology
The doctoral position is based in the I. Department of Medicine in the field of immunological research. We investigate reciprocal influences of infections and autoimmunity in the field of autoimmune liver diseases and inflammatory bowel diseases. To this end, we use complex cell culture models and primary human samples. The work is embedded in a larger, international team. We look forward to receiving motivated support for our research.
Your tasks:
Conducting and analysing complex experimental studies using human blood and tissue samples
Applying and developing state-of-the-art techniques in the fields of immunology, cell biology, and molecular biology
Presentation of research results at internal events and at national and international conferences
Preparation of manuscripts on the project and topic-related review articles
Participation in collaborative projects
Supervision of students
This position is to be filled on a fixed-term basis at a rate of 65 % of full time weekly working hours and is limited for 3 years in accordance with the WissZeitVG.
Your Profile

Completed scientific university degree (Master of Science (MSc) or diploma) in immunology, cell biology, biomedicine, molecular medicine, or a related field of life sciences
Practical experience or strong interest in high-dimensional flow cytometry, cell culture, confocal microscopy, and bioinformatics
Prior knowledge of or strong interest in immunology and pathogen-host interaction
Strong interest in interdisciplinary collaboration
Very good written and spoken English skills
Good communication skills
