The objective of this PhD project is the development of novel in vitro models to evaluate vascular healing processes. The research will focus on the active stimulation of endothelial growth on vascular implants, as well as the assessment of inflammatory responses and thrombogenicity. This work will directly contribute to the development of safer medical devices, improved clinical outcomes, and expanded treatment options for patients.

About us
The Faculty of Medicine is one of the four founding faculties of the Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen. With its non-clinical facilities as well as its research and teaching area corresponding to the organisational units of the University Hospital, it is one of the largest medical training and research institutions in Baden-Württemberg.
About the Research Laboratory
The University Hospital of Tübingen is a leading center of German university medicine. Every year, around 75,000 inpatients and around 380,000 outpatients are treated. With over 11,000 employees, it is the largest employer in the region. The quality of patient care is certified with the KTQ seal of approval. The research group at the Department of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery, led by Prof. Meltem Avci-Adali, focuses on the hemocompatibility of medical devices and the development of innovative strategies for tissue regeneration. The group aims to improve the safety and performance of blood-contacting biomaterials and to advance regenerative approaches for restoring damaged tissues.
