Network Engineer – Space Communications (m/f/d)


Your Tasks


Role Purpose:

Responsible for designing, integrating, and optimizing network architectures for communication between space assets to ensure secure, resilient, and high-performance data transmission.



Key Responsibilities

Design network architectures for space (ISLs, user access, feeder links) Define and implement routing protocols (DTN, IP over space links, autonomous routing) Integrate the space network, including management and control functions Collaborate with engineers to embed network capabilities into spacecraft systems Optimize network performance (latency, bandwidth, orbital dynamics) Support simulation and validation of network behavior in mission scenarios Coordinate subcontractors and oversee technical requirements Contribute to innovative R&D initiatives in space communication

Your Qualifications

Master’s or PhD in Telecommunications, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field 3+ years of experience in network engineering, ideally in space communications Expertise in space communication protocols, DTN, and IP networking in space Experience with satellite constellations and onboard network integration Familiarity with network simulation tools (e.g., ns-3, OPNET) and Linux-based systems Understanding of cybersecurity in space systems and secure communication protocols Excellent communication skills and team leadership experience Cisco or Juniper certifications a plus
