Mechanical Design Engineer - Thermal Systems
Be part of a growing and energetic Thermal Systems Engineering team to engineer, execute and deliver cutting-edge products to global customers. You will work with cross-functional team members to continuously innovate and launch new products for Europe and other growing markets.
What You'll Do
Mechanical design and packaging of HVAC components to meet system and vehicle requirements while optimizing for efficiency, cost, weight, manufacturability and serviceability
Manage suppliers and projects to ensure timely program deliverables within budget
Develop component and system level requirements based on vehicle level requirements and customer experience
Lead creation of component specifications, component DFMEA, and other technical design documents
Develop and execute component and subsystem design verification plans and test methods to validate produce adherence to requirements
Ensure vehicles conform to all motor vehicle safety standards governing HVAC operation
Support vehicle programs through the entire life cycle including; spec development, prototype builds, vehicle test, and production
What You'll Bring
Education background in Mechanical Engineering or similar
Outstanding design, packaging and 3D modelig skills - CATIA preferred
Demonstrable motivation and ability to solve novel, difficult design problems with tight timing constraints as well as design experience with 10’s-100’s of released component designs
Working knowledge of automotive HVAC systems including compressors, HVAC units, fluid transfer components, and vehicle performance testing
Experience with heat transfer, fluid dynamics and thermal management
Good knowledge of high-volume manufacturing processes such as injection molding, stampings, and castings
Acquaintance with electrical component design and control strategies is preferred
