EA-Elektro-Automatik and Tektronix are looking for a Legal Counsel EMEAI team member to join the Tektronix Global Legal Team supporting the Europe, Middle East, Africa and India regions (“EMEAI”).

This position is based in Köln or Viersen, Germany with a possibility to work hybrid some days of the week.

We are looking for a motivated candidate to work in a dynamic environment on a wide variety of assignments.

In this role, the Legal Counsel EMEAI will be responsible for advising primarily EA-Elektro-Automatik’s teams in Germany and other regions, as needed, in a wide variety of legal topics as well as for Tektronix as needed. As such, the Legal Counsel will perform a full spectrum of contractual tasks including drafting and negotiation of agreements linked to sale and distribution of the full portfolio. This role will partner with other functional groups to drive negotiations to closure and successfully support business objectives requiring legal guidance and support in contracting process while also ensuring compliance with corporate policies and applicable regulations.

The successful candidate must be inquisitive, enthusiastic about technology, like being continually challenged, demonstrate sound judgment, problem-solving skills and attention to detail. You should also be able to engage and build trust with a broad range of senior stakeholders and business partners as well as have an interest in working in a space where legal meets business.



Role and Responsibilities :



Partner with regional teams to enable growth and provide practical business-focused and sound legal advice on laws, regulations and company policies to appropriately manage legal risks.

Negotiate and draft various contracts, tender documentation and RFQs for both public and commercial sectors in a broad range of industries and work on all phases of deals ranging from proposal/bid review stages through final negotiation in compliance with risk management strategy.

Advise the business on contractual risks that fall outside of tolerance policy.

Drive improved processes to scale efficiencies in the legal support of go-to-market solutions.

Assist with commercial pre-litigation and litigation – customer’s complaints and after-sales services.

Consult on various Legal topics (e.g. competition, GDPR, etc.) as needed.

Upgrade and harmonization of standard documents (contracts, terms and conditions of sales, etc.).

Assist EMEAI regions with compliance issues / provide ethics and compliance support (speak up investigation, whistle-blowing investigations, privacy, and regulatory compliance as well as anti-bribery and corruption prevention etc.)

Active participation in global Legal Department teamwork and in the digitalization of legal activities.

Communicate regularly with cross functional teams including but not limited to Sales, Finance, Operations, etc.

Provide legal training and education for business partners to advance business needs and ensure proper functioning and transparency of contractual and other processes.

Contribute to process improvement projects and implementation of new policies and procedures.



Minimum Requirements / Job Qualifications:



The successful candidate will possess the following combination of education, experience and skills:



Education and Experience



German qualified lawyer, preferably German Bar.

A minimum of 2+ years of recent and relevant contract negotiation experience (at a law firm or international company).

Working understanding and navigation of business and contract law as well as public procurement law in Germany and EMEA, as needed.

Interest and knowledge of technology industry.



Skills



German and English language skills (Advanced/Business proficiency)

Demonstrated ability to balance legal risks against commercial and operational needs of the business.

Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate in both written and verbal form and ability to optimally team in a cross-functional setting.

Unquestionable integrity and excellent judgment.

Culturally savvy and able to work effectively in a global environment and across numerous legal systems.

Process-driven and results-oriented.

Problem-solver with a penchant for providing solutions or paths to resolution.

Fast learner who thrives in a high-demand environment.



Preferred Candidates will also be able to demonstrate the following:



German labor law knowledge

Additional language skills (French, Italian, etc.).
