Work Environment
As a cross-sectional team of the Technical Development at Audi, we are responsible for the development and implementation of data-driven solutions and of Artificial Intelligence (AI) methods. Our goal is to increase the efficiency and innovative strength of the company. We work at the interface with various departments and ensure that IT infrastructures and data solutions are optimally built and utilized. A key objective of the department is to ensure the integration of data and systems complying with recent IT security standards. The internship offers the opportunity to gain practical experience in a dynamic and future-oriented environment.
As part of your internship, you will contribute to the development of cutting-edge, LLM-powered knowledge retrieval systems by establishing intelligent connectors between enterprise applications and modern AI infrastructure.
Job Purpose/Role
Your tasks will include:
Identifying existing enterprise systems, their users, and the types of data they contain.
Investigating access mechanisms to these systems (e.g., OpenID Connect with EntraID).
Designing and implementing efficient data connectors to enable knowledge access for AI systems. Possible approaches include MCP servers, vector databases, and other semantic interfaces.
Defining embedding pipelines, indexing strategies, and retrieval optimization to support LLM-based knowledge access.
Collaborating closely with AI engineers, data architects, and system owners to ensure scalable, secure, and reusable connector templates.
Documenting integration workflows and technical processes.
Key Requirements/Skills/Experience
Ongoing graduate studies in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, Statistics, or a related field
Structured, independent working style and strong analytical thinking skills
Excellent knowledge of Python, including object-oriented programming, typing, and package management
Solid understanding of microservice development (frameworks such as FastAPI), familiarity with common database systems (PostgreSQL, ElasticSearch), and data science libraries (matplotlib, pandas)
Good understanding of authentication mechanisms (e.g., OpenID Connect) and confident use of macOS and/or Linux. Experience with cloud environments is desirable, especially Microsoft Azure
Good knowledge of software development tools, including IDEs like Visual Studio Code, version control with Git, and DevOps platforms such as Atlassian or Azure DevOps
You will agree on the final time frame during the discussion with the department
