Job Description

The position is located within the Translational Sciences group in the Neuroscience Discovery Research organization at Ludwigshafen, Germany The open position is planned for 6-9 months ideally beginning in March or April The talented intern will make substantial contributions to the development of new biomarker approaches for neurodegenerative diseases in a collaborative research environment

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities will include the development of protein biomarker assays, e.g. ELISA, and the optimization of PBMC (peripheral blood mononuclear cell) isolation and analysis protocols to support neuroscience biomarker identification Plan, execute, analyze, and interpret experiments to support research activities under the supervision of an experienced mentor Plan details of experiments and maintain a lab notebook Operate scientific equipment, e.g. microplate readers, automated liquid handlers, and utilize software tools to analyze and interpret data

Qualifications

Master level student (undergraduate) in neuroscience, biochemistry, cellular & molecular biology or related life science field. Previous lab experience in protein biochemistry and molecular & cellular biology is required. This position requires the intern to be comfortable handling blood samples collected from both healthy individuals and patients. Good communication skills and proficiency in English (written and oral) are required. Ability to clearly structure and present scientific activities and results. High scientific rigor and commitment. A high degree of flexibility and curiosity. Excellent teamwork and interpersonal relationship skills.
