Description

Our business model combines SaaS subscriptions, transactional payments, and a Merchant of Record (reseller) model. This creates unique complexity in compliance, risk, and financial operations — but also a major opportunity to turn finance from a cost center into a commercial enabler.

The Head of FinTech Infrastructure ensures that our financial infrastructure is stable, compliant, and cost-efficient while evolving into a productized platform layer that creates customer value and unlocks monetization. This role sits at the intersection of Finance, Product, and Compliance, making finance part of the user experience, not just a back-office function.

Responsibilities

Core Responsibilities

Own the Finance Tech Stack & Architecture Lead the design and management of the full finance technology stack, including ERP, billing, PSPs, reporting, and integrations. Ensure all financial interfaces (billing, payouts, revenue recognition, tax, compliance) are robust, automated, and scalable. Act as the owner of all system interfaces between Finance, Product, and Operations. Integrate AI-powered tools to automate data reconciliation, detect anomalies in financial reports, and forecast cash flow with greater accuracy.

Embed Finance Into the Product Experience

Translate finance and compliance requirements (KYC/AML, invoicing, VAT, payouts) into product and UX flows. Partner with Product & Engineering to ensure financial features are designed for customer experience, not only internal needs. "Dogfood" finance workflows internally to reduce risk, cost, and inefficiency before scaling to customers. Utilize AI to create value for customers and ablefy alike, e.g. though create smart onboarding flows that streamline KYC/AML checks, or to personalize invoicing and payment reminders based on user behavior.

Drive Commercialization of Finance

Evolve the finance stack from an internal enabler to a customer-facing product layer. Identify monetization opportunities across embedded finance, reporting, compliance add-ons, and risk services. Drive the stability and further commercialization of our Merchant of Record (reseller) model as a strategic revenue lever. Leverage machine learning models to analyze transaction data, identify new revenue streams, and personalize embedded financial products for different customer segments.

Compliance & Regulatory Alignment

Collaborate with Legal & Compliance to understand applicability of regulatory standards to our business and ensure adherence to all relevant standards. Embed risk management into platform processes (e.g., KYC blocks, chargeback monitoring, tax handling). Ensure international scalability across multiple regulatory jurisdictions. Implement AI-driven compliance engines to monitor transactions in real time, automatically flag suspicious activity for AML, and generate automated compliance reports.

Stakeholder Alignment & Leadership

Act as the key bridge between Finance, Product, Engineering, Legal, and Compliance. Influence product roadmap priorities where finance is a critical enabler. Provide clear visibility on financial system health, risks, and opportunities to the CFO and executive team. Develop AI-powered dashboards that offer real-time insights into financial performance and risk, allowing for proactive, data-driven decisions

Requirements

5–7+ years of experience in Banking, SaaS, fintech, or transactional platforms with complex finance and compliance needs. Proven leadership in finance systems, ERP, payments, or finance-tech architecture. Strong understanding of and transactional/merchant-of-record environments and SaaS subscription models. Hands-on knowledge of PSPs (Stripe, Adyen, PayPal), ERP/finance tools (Datev, Netsuite), and VAT/tax handling at scale. Experience embedding finance features into products (billing, KYC, payouts). Strong communicator, able to align CFO-level strategic priorities with product/engineering execution. Entrepreneurial mindset: stabilizes first, but always with an eye toward commercialization.

Benefits

Paid Time Off - 30 vacation days. A competitive salary. A personal training & development budget of € 1,500 per year. Responsibility and trust from day 1. Individual coaching and further training to support you in your development. A free BVG ticket. Employee discounts at numerous companies (e.g. at the gym or in online stores). Pension Program with company match. * A Culture of equity and Inclusion where you are appreciated for the person you are.
