Job Description
The role of Head of Account Management – Fuel Solutions is pivotal to the continued success of our business in Germany. You will be responsible for the in-life relationship management of our high-value fuel card customer base, ensuring outstanding service, customer retention, and strategic growth through upsell and cross-sell opportunities.
This leadership role will oversee our account management teams based across Germany and will involve regular travel to our regional offices and customer sites. You will drive key customer engagement strategies, reduce churn, support margin growth and help position Radius as the trusted long-term fuel partner of choice.
Key Objectives
Lead the overall account management strategy for our German fuel card customer base, ensuring excellent customer service and commercial outcomes.
Personally manage a portfolio of key strategic clients to build long-term, high-value relationships.
Direct line management of regional account management teams, with responsibility for performance, coaching, and development.
Reduce customer churn to below 10% across the portfolio.
Deliver growth through upsell and cross-sell initiatives, working in partnership with the new business sales team.
Improve the customer journey and onboarding experience to support long-term loyalty and service satisfaction.
Maintain and grow account profitability in line with commercial and margin guidelines.
Operate as a senior leader within the Radius Germany fuel leadership team, influencing broader commercial direction.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and embed a proactive contact strategy for all in-life customers.
Build a structured account review process tailored to strategic, mid-market, and SME segments.
Design and implement a pipeline-led sales strategy to identify and convert upsell opportunities within the base.
Lead the development of a retention strategy with clear metrics to reduce churn and improve customer lifetime value.
Drive commercial performance within the base, ensuring margin protection and growth through careful pricing and cost management.
Collaborate with onboarding and operations teams to ensure a seamless onboarding process for new clients.
Establish C-Level relationships with key accounts to reinforce strategic alignment and increase client advocacy.
Support business development managers in new client acquisition, showcasing the benefits of world-class account management as part of the sales process.
Deliver accurate reporting, performance insights, and forecasts in line with senior leadership expectations.
Qualifications
Proven sales leadership experience, ideally in fuel, fleet, mobility or payment solutions.
Demonstrated success in leading and growing account management teams in a B2B environment.
High level of emotional intelligence and relationship management skills, both internally and with clients.
Strategic mindset with the ability to use data and insights to drive commercial and service outcomes.
Strong understanding of sales and customer lifecycle practices, with the ability to coach and implement these effectively.
Comfortable operating at C-suite level and skilled in high-level negotiation.
Fluent in German and English, both written and spoken.
Additional Information
Role is based in our Berlin offices 5-days per week. Must be able to commute daily to the office.
