ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Software Engineer, you will be part of an expert team of software engineers, data engineers and analysts working towards generating and providing insights to guile Zalando’s business, which boasts over 50 million customers across 50 countries. Your focus will be the design, development, and improvement of several event streaming software systems. In this role your main challenges are going to be: ensuring the system adheres to the latest software engineering standards, designing and implementing new data products, gaining a comprehensive understanding of our data and ensuring its quality for our stakeholders.

WHAT WE’D LOVE YOU TO DO (AND LOVE DOING

Join an agile and seasoned full-stack engineering team dedicated to data collection and processing to generate business insights. Ensure a state-of-the-art software development methodology. Contribute to the design, building and maintenance of a large-scale distributed system using technologies like Java, Python, Apache Flink, Nakadi, and Kubernetes. Since we own data pipelines end-to-end, you will get a chance to collaborate with client engineering teams using technologies such as React Native, Typescript and Node.js Collaborate with different engineering, ML and analytical teams and individual stakeholders to build and continuously improve data products for various business needs

WE’D LOVE TO MEET YOU IF

You have at least 3+ years of experience as a software engineer using Java or other JVM based languages. Familiarity with Spring Boot is a plus. Python knowledge is also a plus. You know how to (or are interested to learn how to) develop and operate a large scale distributed system, microservices or other data processing systems. Databricks knowledge is a plus. You are an advocate for agile processes, operational excellence, and coding best practices such as clean code, readability, and test-driven development. You have some experience or won’t shy away from learning a bit of Typescript and React Native
