As a Financial Analyst Intern, you’ll learn how to perform financial analysis alongside experienced finance professionals at Microsoft. This unique opportunity will immerse you in the dynamic high-tech industry, solving business problems using best-in-class financial tools and technologies. You will gain exposure to revenue modeling and experience the field of Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) firsthand.

Responsibilities

Apply financial acumen and contribute to analytics supporting the present and future financial performance of products, segments, KPIs, or other business areas, under the guidance of team members. Learn and assist in the execution of forward-looking analyses. Complete preliminary analyses to support forecast cycles and financial planning activities. Respond to ad-hoc requests to identify critical information, analyze financial data, and support decision-making across the business. Support financial processes by engaging with internal and external stakeholders. Learn to identify and propose improvements to current data collection, reporting methods, and analytical approaches. Utilize advanced technology—including Excel, Power BI, and AI tools like Copilot—to enhance analytical depth and operational efficiency. Participate in Rhythm of Business (RoB) activities, contributing to core operational and reporting cadences. Learn and help ensure compliance with company policies, legal standards, and regulatory requirements by reviewing and monitoring financial documents and business processes. Qualifications

Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or master's degree in business administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science, or related field. Must have at least 1 semester/term remaining following the completion of the internship.

Preferred Qualifications

Strong Excel skills; familiarity with Power BI is a plus. Interest in number-crunching, advanced analytics, and leveraging the newest financial technologies. Interest in driving process improvements using AI tools such as Microsoft Copilot, including prompting, developing basic agents, and enhancing workflow efficiency.

In line with our Flexible Work approach, for roles at Microsoft Germany and Austria, we recommend spending at least two days per week in the office or at the customer site. The actual number of days to work from the office or at the customer will be defined in agreement between the employee and their manager.
