to support our current GSMO-II contract supporting the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) critical global missions from
Stuttgart, Germany
(Patch Barracks). This Field Service Engineer role provides network maintenance, installation, and warehouse logistical support, with frequent travel required within the EUCOM AOR.
This is a funded position on a multiyear contract through July 2030. Relocation will be provided, and you will have access to all base privileges, including the military commissary and BX/PX. You will also receive HOLA/COLA allowances and have access to DoDDS schools or international schools for all dependents.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Performing installation, removal, upgrade, and interface actions associated with network components at user locations.
Inventorying shipments; installing racks, equipment, and infrastructure; and providing redline installation documents and completion reports.
Managing warehouse logistics and facilitating and finalizing all aspects of site acceptance.
Providing fault isolation in a data communications network.
Activating and deactivating network components according to established schedules.
Coordinating with users, site/base support, security offices, facilities personnel, network managers/controllers, and long-haul and local carriers for site access, installation, cutover, activation, deactivation, planning, and execution.
Providing functional guidance, supervision, technical support, training, and quality assurance/quality control to Associate and Intermediate personnel.
Identifying, troubleshooting, and resolving malfunctions to bring new platforms into the operational network.
Minimum Qualifications:
Must have 11+ years of technical experience with a High School diploma, or at least 7 years of experience with an Associate’s degree to meet the German Technical Expert Status Accreditation (TESA) requirements.
Experience with one or more of the following: fault management, configuration management, WAN maintenance, and warehouse logistics management.
Expertise in one or more of the following: IP routing, optical, crypto, and network appliances (WAN acceleration, etc.).
Experience in fabrication of serial, Cat6, coax, fiber, and DC power cables for equipment installations, modifications, and upgrades.
Experienced with major vendors, including Sycamore, Ciena, Juniper, Promina, and Cisco.
Preferred Qualifications:
Manufacturer certifications for vendor-specific equipment (e.g., Cisco, Juniper, etc.).
DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification (Security+ CE or equivalent or higher certification).
Clearance Requirements:
Must have an Active Secret with the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to balance, bend, carry, crouch, stretch, reach, and kneel to access equipment, cabling, and installation areas.
* Must be able to work with computers, monitors/CRTs, and type on a keyboard for long periods of time.
