ABOUT THE ROLE:

As Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for the health, throughput, and efficiency of one to two cross-functional squads. You will collaborate with the squads’ Product Managers to create ambitious-yet-achievable quarterly roadmaps, and then ensure that these delivery milestones are met. This involves driving technical excellence, detailed people and process management, owning the continued growth of the squads’ abilities, knowledge, and productivity.

ONCE YOU ARE HERE YOU WILL:

Manage the deliveries of 1-2 cross-functional squads Directly manage the performance, growth, and careers of up to 10 engineers Work closely with Product Managers to prioritize upcoming work and challenges Collaborate with Technical Leads to guarantee the quality, stability, and security of your squads’ output Proactively hire, mentor, and coach engineers so that squads have the headcount and skills required Mature and refine the squads’ Agile processes Establish practices and initiatives that help grow the entire RnD Department Act as a company leader, displaying practices and principles that expand company values

WHAT WE NEED YOU TO BRING TO THE TABLE:

Strong, proven people management skills and experience in hiring, onboarding, mentoring, and retaining engineering talent Experience leading at least one cross-functional software team to success The ability to interpret company goals and commitments and align teams to achieve them Experience with web development ideally in a software as a service company. A thorough understanding of the SaaS industry Several years of hands-on work as an engineer Superb communication skills

Kubernetes running on Google Cloud PostgreSQL We use Go for our API, core logic, and internal tooling TypeScript, React, Redux, and CSS modules for our web application Cypress for automated end-to-end testing Other odds & ends in JavaScript and shell script
