Electromechanical Engineer

München, BY, DE, Germany

Job Description

We are seeking a mechanically-focused Electromechanical Engineer to join our team and lead the design and development of custom hardware systems, including drones, 3D-printed assemblies, and ruggedized enclosures. This hands-on role emphasizes mechanical design while requiring a solid understanding of electrical systems for proper integration and field readiness. You will collaborate with global engineering teams to prototype, test, and troubleshoot electromechanical systems, ensuring robustness, maintainability, and alignment with manufacturing needs.

Responsibilities

Design, prototype, and iterate mechanical hardware for drone platforms, field-deployable electronics, and structural enclosures. Develop and validate components using rapid prototyping methods such as 3D printing, CNC machining, and laser cutting. Ensure mechanical systems are robust, lightweight, and optimized for real-world conditions including vibration, thermal loads, and environmental stress. Integrate electrical components into mechanical designs, including proper wiring, connector selection, mounting, and protection. Collaborate with PCB designers to ensure mechanical compatibility, clearances, and manufacturability. Troubleshoot issues from production and field deployments, performing root cause analysis and implementing design improvements. Document mechanical designs, assembly procedures, and integration guidelines in detail. Work closely with manufacturing and operations teams to support assembly processes, scalability, and design-for-manufacturing (DFM) best practices. Participate in design reviews and cross-functional discussions with global hardware and systems teams.

Qualifications and Skills

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a closely related field. 3+ years of experience in mechanical hardware design, preferably in aerospace, robotics, or related industries. Strong experience with CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks, Fusion 360) for 3D modeling and technical drawing. Familiarity with 3D printing, CNC machining, and rapid prototyping workflows. Solid understanding of electrical integration: basic wiring, connectors, PCB layout interfaces, and component mounting. Experience with drone systems, sensor enclosures, or similar electromechanical products is a plus. Excellent problem-solving skills and hands-on approach to testing and debugging. Ability to work cross-functionally and manage tasks across the entire product lifecycle. Strong documentation and communication skills. EU Citizenship required.
