We offer a doctoral position (E13, 65%, 3.5 years, starting 1 October 2025) in the exciting international DFG funded Research Training Group FORSCALE “Scale effects in Forest Adaptation to Climate Change”. ThisGerman-Canadian doctoral programme explores how forest ecosystems can be actively adapted to climate change, integrating ecological, social, economic, and legal perspectives across multiple scales and different political levels.






The doctoral candidate will specifically work in the project on "Power in Forest Adaptation Governance - A comparative analysis", which theoretically bases on ideational concepts like discursive institutionalism, ideational power and policy change. Empirically qualitative comparative analysis of policy documents and interviews will be conducted in Germany and Canada at different political levels.

FORSCALE is research-oriented and structured in close cooperation with six Canadian Universities. Doctoral candidates are expected to spend several month in Canada.
